Who Is A Legal Goddess?

"Who Are You Meant To Be?" read the caption on the cover of the November, 2009 issue of O Magazine.   I have been writing and coaching clients about being authentic for some time and was curious about the article.  One of the contributors to the Oprah feature, Anne Lamott, noted that to answer the question of finding how to become ourselves we must first "gently stop being who we aren't."

Some women lawyers (and men) have experienced first-hand painful lessons to discover who they aren't in the practice of law. A law school graduate with top honors discovers she is awkward at networking events and has no desire to be a rainmaker. An energetic, compassionate attorney finds her path to leadership painful because she cannot thrive in the organization's political climate. A perfectionist-minded lawyer wants an inhouse position but cannot make the transition from examining all alternatives and case law to understanding the significance of compelling business objectives.

If you are want to discover who you are meant to be, consider who you already are.  I love the idea that a woman lawyer is a Legal Goddess.  A Legal Goddess, by my definition, combines her femine energies of passion, collaboration and inner wisdom with the masculine energies of commitment, courage and action.

A LEGAL GODDESS * Claims her gifts * Leads by taking a stand * Focuses on relationships * Creates a success support team

Are you ready to unleash your Legal Goddess?
